Things Have Changed
If you haven’t looked at snowshoes recently you should know that they have undergone quite a few changes over the years. Aluminum frames have added durability. Cramp-on style traction allows the user to climb nearly vertical walls of ice (back in the day it was better to take your snowshoes off and use them as poles when going uphill!). Bindings have become easier to get in and out of – and thus much more user friendly.
Snowshoes = Easy Outdoor Fun
If you can walk – you can snowshoe. That’s all it is. But you can get as adventurous as you want on snowshoes. Some folks run with them. Others climb canyon walls and jump into deep snow. You don’t need a trail – make your own! If you get “lost” just turn around and follow your tracks back out. Snowshoeing is also great on the really cold days – when you just don’t want to go to the ski hill or local XC trail. You will be surprised how warm you get while snowshoeing!
